| How do I update the firmware? |
| On your DVR, use the following steps to update the firmware. This will require an SD card: • Download the firmware update from the IDView website and copy it to your SD card • Put the SD card in the slot on the back of the DVR • Reboot the DVR while holding in the up/down arrow keys on the front of the DVR until you hear a tone and a message is displayed on the monitor (page 14 in the manual) • After approx. 90 secs, a double-tone will sound and a Please Restart message will display. • The process is complete, reboot your DVR |
| How do I lock/unlock the DVR via the front panel keys? |
| In Live or Playback mode, on the front panel of the DVR, hold the Enter key for at least 3 seconds to Lock the front panel keys. Press the Enter key again (for 3 secs) to Unlock the keys. |
| What is the storage capability of the DVR? |
| The DVR can hold a total of 800 Gigabytes of storage spread over 1 internal hard drive, 1 removable hard drive. The storage capacity will vary based on the frame rate setting, hard drive size, and recording quality. Please refer to the Storage Calculator for details |
| Can the DVR be programmed for motion detection? |
| The DVR supports two types of motion detection. The first type is using the built in software detection. This is based upon pixel changes and may not be suited for certain environments. You can enable motion detection by pressing the Setup button and scrolling down to the Alarm/Motion line and changing the ALARM OPERATION to ON, then move down to MOTION SETTING, enable motion detection on a designated camera or all of them. The motion sensitivity can be adjusted from 1(most sensitive) to 5 (least sensitive). Once motion detection is enabled, the system will record all four cameras after it senses motion from the enabled camera(s). The second type requires the use of an external device that is connected to the RS-232 port on the back of the DVR. |
| Can the Removable Hard Drive be used as a backup drive? |
| The removable hard drive can be set to record to or as a backup drive. There are three ways available to duplicate the recorded video from HD 1 (Fixed HD) to HD 2 (Mobile Rack HD). First, the FULL backup option, duplicates all the recorded video from HD1 to HD2 (given HD2 is equal to or larger than HD1). Second, the ALARM backup option, duplicates only the alarm-event recorded video from HD 1 to HD2. Third, the SELECT backup option, manually duplicates selected video clips from HD1 to HD2. All backups must be done manually. The unit cannot be programmed to perform automatic backups. The amount of time required to back up a file from HDD1 to HDD2 is about 40% of real time. |
| What is a SD card and how do I use it with the DVR? |
| The SD card is a Secure Digital memory card storage device. A 32MB SD card can hold about 1 minute of real time video. You can use it for: 1. upgrading the system software, 2. upload/downloading system configurations, 3. downloading JPG video image files, 4. to instantly print the images saved on the SD card when using a printer with SD card capabilities. You can search for or delete the JPG images saved on the SD card with the DVR. Please refer to the Secure Digital Card section for further details. |
| Can I record audio? |
| Yes, you can record a single channel of audio. Synchronized audio can be recorded at the rate of 10, 6, 2.7, 1.2, 0.61, or 0.35 Frames per second. |
| Can I output the video to a VCR while playing back? |
| Yes, you can. Connect the "TO MONITOR" connection on the DVR to the "INPUT" of the VCR with a coax cable. Connect the "OUTPUT" connection on the VCR to the TV input with another coax cable. Ensure your TV is on TV/Video, then playback the DVR and hit record on the VCR to copy the playback to a video tape. |
| Can I view the live and recorded video remotely? |
| The IV-400CD-SN series DVR can be connected to a LAN/WAN through the Ethernet port to allow remote viewing of live & recorded video via a TCP/IP connection. You will need to install the Network Viewer software (CD is attached to the manual) on a Windows based computer. Please refer to the DVR Network Setup section for further details The IV-400CD-RT series DVRs do not support remote viewing. |
| Can I save the recorded video to a CD? |
| Yes, you can. With the Network Viewer remote software, you can download single images or short AVI files files to a PC, then write the files to a CD. You can also make use of the HDD Viewer software available for download (contact Support at IDView for details) |
| What is the default username and password of the system? |
| The default user name is admin, the default password is 9999 |
